My name is Tim Gerdes and I have been the pastor of Pilgrim since 2004.  I grew up in Michigan and went to Concordia University in River Forest, IL and then Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO to become a pastor. My first call was to San Jose, CA where I served at First Immanuel Lutheran as an assistant pastor in charge of campus ministry to San Jose State University. The greatest thing to happen to me in San Jose was meeting my wife and convincing her to have pity on a poor soul and marry me. What attracted us to Pilgrim was the opportunity to work with a school and preschool while helping build Pilgrim in the present and for the future. Since moving to Chula Vista, we have added to our family with our three sons which has denied any time for hobbies, free time, etc. I wouldn't have it any other way.
