What We Believe

What is a Lutheran Christian?
At the heart of Lutheranism are three great theological themes that grew out of the 16th century Reformation, led by Martin Luther.

Grace alone is the concept that we are saved, not because of the good things we do, but solely because of God's undeserved love and mercy for us in His son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died in our place for our sins and rose from the dead to give us life.

Faith alone is the concept that we cannot earn God's love by what we do; we can only receive His grace through faith, which trusts in the promises of God and clings for hope and comfort to the cross of Jesus Christ.

Scripture alone is the concept that the Bible is the only source and standard for Christian life and teaching. We find out who God is, what He has done for us, what He promises us, and what He expects us to do in the bible, all of which is God's inspired and truthful Word to us.

The good news that God's Son, Jesus Christ, died and rose to forgive our sins is the heart, core, and center of everything we Lutherans believe, teach and profess.
